Confessions of a bilingual porn fan part 1

If there's one thing that gives me infinite amusement every time it's those hilarious lost-in-translation subversive messages that permeate all aspects of our lives, but go unnoticed by all except those privy to a second language and a skewed sense of humour i.e. Me.

Top of the list comes the fantastic porn line "Bang Me" which, when translated to Vietnamese, loses its dubious eroticism to become "toast" which, to me at least is a far more interesting thing to say during sex. Or at least I speculate that it would be an interesting thing to say during sex. Maybe one day...

Life has been fairly slow of late, and I'm now going into my third week of unemployment after landing from NYC. In that time though I've seen most of the people that matter, a couple of people that dont matter, friends and family, karate senseis, art curators, kung fu fighting cousins, loads of employment agencies, done my committee business for Raleigh, seen my carnival lot, been to the House of Lords Records Library and arranged to join a saturday football side. With nothing to keep me entertained most weekdays, weekends are mad-busy and it is ironically only my insane sense of humour that keeps me sane.

It gets increasingly difficult to maintain the belief in integrity over selling yourself to large corporations, when money gets so damn tight but looking around at so many Warwickites who are on graduate schemes, which are going to ensure that they are nothing but statistics when they die, I feel completely justified in my beliefs. I want to be somebody, not just a number. I don't care for recognition, I want to push myself to achieve my full potential which would not happen if I fell into line in a corporation. We all know I'm different to the people who work for Cocksuck corp(TM) but can I hold off from joining the ranks of clones? Only time will tell.

The Vietnamese for "give" is pretty close to the Vietnamese for "fake". How much can you give and still remain true to yourself?
